The planners of Daniels Corp's new Limelight condo in Mississauga have taken green initiatives to another level. This condo will offer garden plots on the roof of the sixth floor podium so residents can grow food to contribute to charities such as Food Share.

“This will be a condo that attracts families so we wanted to get kids back to understanding the land, what the land can yield and bring that to a highrise community,”. “These garden plots are a great opportunity for kids to touch and feel what they grow, as well as learn about the community aspect of charity giving,”.

“The plots are conceptual at this stage so there’s a labyrinth of different sizes. But the condo board will establish a gardening committee and decide how to divide or create communal plots. They have partnered with Food Share before and they can help decide what is needed and would grow best.”

Limelight is the fifth building within Daniels’ City Centre master-planned community. “ They’ve been building there for about 10 years with great success. Limelight is a modern, sleek building with an edgy design that’s youthful. The building is 22 storeys tall and features a six-storey, metal panelled podium with retail venues. Radiating skyward from the roofline, a green beacon of light will identify Limelight and reflect the environmental responsibility of the design.

There are about 235 suites that range from studios to three bedroom plans of about 450 to 1,000 square feet. Prices start from the $190,000s and condo fees will be about 50 cents per square foot. Larger units will include parking and storage lockers, or parking spaces can be purchased.

The gym can be a place for basketball, volleyball, badminton, yoga, karate, spinning and other activities,. “The gym is the focal point of the fitness area, but they have rooms for weight training, cardio and yoga as well. There are also all the amenities people expect such as a party room, sports lounge with flat screen TVs, gaming room and media room. Outside on the fourth floor is a beautiful terrace with barbecues, dining tables, cabanas and greenspace.” There’s also a 24-hour concierge.

Limelight is located in the Square One shopping mall area where City Hall, the Living Arts Centre and YMCA are situated. It’s also well-served by transit and close to major highways such as the 403 and QEW.
